Mental Health

GP Referral into Primary or Community Mental Health Services

The usual route into any primary or community mental health services is by GP referral, where appropriate options that may be available and any assessment can be discussed with the GP.

Primary Care Mental Health Service - provide assessment and individual and group-based intervention and support for adults registered with a Tameside and Glossop GP.

Community Mental Health Team (South covering Hattersley) - provide care and support for adults of working age (up to 65 yrs) with a full range of mental health problems.

Mind offers a variety of services for better mental health and well-being.  Their services include counselling, solution focused therapy, therapeutic courses and workshops, community engagement, volunteering opportunities, advocacy, allotment work, eating out healthily at Topaz Café, accessing a range of drop-ins and getting involved with the organisation’s development. 
Services are offered following an initial consultation, so please do check in advance.

A free confidential counselling service for young people aged 13-28 who live in Tameside, Glossop, Oldham and surrounding areas. Any referral accepted including self referral.

They offer independent one-to-one advocacy to adults for people with mental health needs.  Referrals to the service can be made by phone or email, or by downloading the referral forms from the website.
